The Red Hotel was created to be the front porch to Morrison, Colorado. Just minutes from Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Morrison’s sandstone canyons, The Red Hotel sits at the meeting point of music, mountain culture, craft, and community.
This is not a hotel built to stand apart from Morrison. It is a hotel designed to belong here.
For years, Morrison has welcomed visitors from around the world. However, downtown Morrison has long had a gap: guests could come for a concert, a hike, a meal, or a mountain drive, but there was no unique hotel in the heart of town where they could stay, slow down, and experience Morrison beyond the event itself.
The Red Hotel is here to fill that gap.
The Red Hotel is founded by two local Foothills families with deep experience in architecture, real estate, hospitality, design, and guest experience. The project is led by members of The Root Team, including Zeke Freeman, Amy Freeman, Chad Wallace, and Krista Wallace.
The design approach is rooted in a belief that buildings should do more than house people. They should create connection. They should help guests understand where they are. They should feel personal, crafted, and alive.
At The Red Hotel, that means honoring Morrison’s historic main street character while introducing a design-forward guesthouse for a new generation of travelers.
The Red Hotel was designed to feel like it grew from the landscape around it.
The architecture draws from Morrison’s layers: sandstone, canyon walls, independent storefronts, old mountain roads, concert posters, trail dust, and the warm glow of a town that comes alive before and after a show. The building’s street-facing presence is intended to respect the scale of Bear Creek Avenue while creating a fresh, modern expression of Colorado hospitality.
Inside, the experience is meant to feel warm, textural, and intentional — a balance of mountain simplicity and creative energy. The goal is not to overwhelm guests with design, but to give them a place that feels considered at every turn.
The Red Hotel is located on Bear Creek Avenue in downtown Morrison, placing guests within walking distance of local restaurants, independent shops, and the small-town storefronts that give Morrison its character.
The site is especially meaningful because of what surrounds it. Morrison sits near Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, a landmark known for its sandstone formations and natural acoustic setting.
